It’s a sad world we live in when an honest yearning for Truth can be treated so cynically.
That this is a thoughtful movie goes without saying (think Backdraft meets well … Kirk Cameron by way of Family Guy), but unfortunately it is far too rarely self-depracating when it approaches its own subject matter. I’m not sure how well some of the religious overtones dovetail with the romantic comedy climax and denouement, but the utter sincerity of the last 15 minutes should win over even the most jaded post-modern securalist.
Ultimately my own views of this movie are that it is as much a compromise as it is an effective vehicle for the dissemination of the idea that faith remains relevant to the modern world.
